Continuous-wave Doppler radar is an established method for non-contact heart rate estimation. The output signal of the includes fundamental wave a heartbeat, heartbeat harmonics, respiration, respiration and artifacts due to body movement. harmonics degrade accuracy To this end, novel estimation proposed that uses adaptive notch filters (ANFs). First, system estimates frequency. Next, cascaded filters, frequencies which are controlled by estimated frequency, eliminate harmonics; thus, improves. In addition, ANF based on all-pass filter algorithm estimate rate. robust against disturbances, allowing improve in presence moving artifacts. simulation results human subjects show MAPE, MAE, MSE, RMSE 5.24%, 4.00, 28.38, 5.26, respectively; they can be reduced up fourth-order harmonics. experiment dog not restrained cage, method, handling fifth-order harmonic, yields MAPE 7.89%, MAE 5.34, MSE 96.11, 9.80. Thus, shows better than any other conventional method.
